The DB function calculates fixed declining balance depreciation for an asset given the cost, it's salvage value, estimated economic life, the accounting period for which depreciation is being calculated, and, optionally, the number of month in first year. (If you don't include the optional month argument, Excel sets this value to 12.) The DB function uses the following syntax:
DB (cost, salvage, life, period, month)
Suppose, for example, that you must calculate the fixed declining balance depreciation for equipment that costs ,000, lasts five years, will have a salvage value of ,000 at the end of the fifth year, and that was placed into service in the third month of the first year. To calculate the depreciation for the first year, you use the following formula:
=DB(50000,10000,5,1,3)
The function returns the value 3437.5. To calculate the depreciation for the second year, you use the formula
=DB(50000,10000,5,2,3)
The function returns the value 12804.69
The distinguishing feature of fixed-declining balance depreciation is that it calculates depreciation
at a fixed rate based on the estimated cost, salvage value, and economic life of the asset. Excel calculates this rate using the following formula:
Fixed rate=1-((salvage/cost)^(1/life))
and then rounds this value to the nearest three decimal places. To calculate the depreciation for a period, Excel multiplies the rate by the sum of the original cost less the accumulated depreciation to date.
NOTE: The accumulated depreciation equals the original cost minus the previous periods' depreciation.
Excel uses variations of the standard fixed-declining balance formula for the first and last periods. For the first period, Excel calculates the depreciation by using the following formula:
First-period depreciation=cost * rate * month / 12
For the last period, Excel calculates the depreciation using the following formula (which essentially just depreciates the asset down to its salvage value):
Last-period depreciation=((cost. accumulated depreciation)*rate*(12-month))/12

What kind of computer would best fit our needs?!
?
What is the best computer for Graphic Design, Photography Editing, Games, and Digital Scrapbooking? I guess you can say we need a lot of memory. We want to get dual screens, and get one of those splitter things, lol i dont know what the right name is. I know it would be best to get a custom built one, but i am stupid when it comes to building a computer. lol.
Im on a local website that builds computers and i am needing to put in a bunch of things that i would need, but like i said..its all basically in a different language.

Since I have little accounting experience I would be willing to settle for a smaller salary than others. I have attached my resume to this letter; please contact me as soon as possible regarding a position in your firm.
Respectfully yours,
Daniel Zerpa

1 All cover letters should follow the cover letter format, that is, you must format the heading elements correctly. When sending your resume via email, the line spacing and address conventions may no longer apply, although, they do in paper cover letters.
2 The First Paragraph. This part should immediately tell your recipient how you learned about the job opening, your intent, the position you are applying, or if you are inquiring about future employment possibilities.
3 Second Paragraph. An effective cover letter would have the second paragraph explain and highlight your experience relevant to the job you are applying for. This part calls to action your background elements, particularly your education, experience, and leadership which are relevant to the position you are applying. Be sure to cite examples and strong evidences.
4 Reflect your attitude, such as your personality, motivation, enthusiasm, and communication skills.
5 Provide any information that the job advertisement specifically requested which is not covered in your resume, including your availability date, or reference to an attached writing sample.
6 Make the first sentence of the second paragraph hard-hitting – make it a quick introduction of your accomplishments directed at the qualifications and skills the job/industry requires.
7 Make your cover letter (and yourself, that is) more enticing to your prospective employers, by presenting facts that would interest them in hiring, or at least, interviewing you, such as your ability to increase profits, save money, conserve time, to immediately discharge or assume responsibility, and rapidly produce results when hired.
8 Be proactive by indicating that you will do a follow-up. This will show your deep interest to your job application, by saying something like, “I will contact you in the next two week to see if you require any additional information regarding my qualifications.”
9 Make the last paragraph count. In the final sentences, use call-to-action and always request for an interview. Also thank the reader for reading your cover letter and looking into your resume
When writing a resume always consider that the piece of paper you’ll be writing will generally represent who you are, what you can offer and why they should hire you. To put it simply, it is a marketing brochure showcasing “you”, your specifications and your capabilities and what you offer their company if you get hired.

Discuss the markets that these vendors are targeting.?
Big-name business applications vendors—Microsoft, Oracle, Lawson and (on the
business intelligence front) Cognos each made a splash with new software
announcements at the National Retail Federation’s Big Show event in New York on
Jan. 16.
The bevy of new offerings could help businesses in the retail sector move forward
with electronic initiatives.
Microsoft, for example, announced the 2.0 version of its Dynamics POS (Point of
Sale) suite of software aimed at making it easier for retailers to extend their
storefront online with such functionality as online invoicing and the ability to link to
PayPal and eBay marketplace selling.
POS 2.0 also offers roles-based design and integrates with Microsoft Office
Accounting Professional 2007 software.
For smaller retailers—and in conjunction with First Data and HP—Microsoft also
announced an out-of-the-box POS and payment suite that is designed to replace a
cash register and dial-up connection to the Internet with a PC-based POS sys

How much does it cost to run a Microsoft Exchange Server?
If you purchase Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 (which is a fixed price), it seems to come with Exchange Server 2007 and possibly 5 accounts for free. So, if you operate the server in-house, is there a monthly fee (other than registering a domain) associated with exchange? Do you have to purchase and pay monthly for client exchange licenses (CAL)? Thanks!
[Translate]
Ive installed a few sbs2003 servers.
if you are just going to use the 5 cals, you shoud only have to buy yearly cals. You will also need a seperate office license for all systems that are going to connect to the exchange server.
the cool this bout sbs 2003 is that it comes with rww and owa. if you configure owa, then your 5 people can remote into your exchange server to check their email. its pretty cool and easy to setup. i believe you just need to forward port 443 to the ip address of the server.
ohh yeah, you will need to get a static ip address from your Isp, and a cheap router/firewall to do the port forwarding.
other then that you should be good to go. i would suggest you also purchase some sort of spam protection for your exchange server, because if not, you are going to get hit hard by spam. Symantec spam works great, but if you dont want to pay for it, you can also contact any email hosting company in your town and see if you can use them as a gateway.
hope that helps
