zed bs Accounting Software For Small Businesses

An accounting package is for communication and maintaining your financial records. The package produces information that tells specific things about the company. An accounting package provides the information regarding the finances of the business at the owner's fingertips. The software should include accounts receivable, accounts payable, order entry, inventory control, cost accounting, payroll and fixed assets accounting. The general ledger should show transactions in four different categories. These categories include the account assets, liabilities, income and expenses.

The type of information needed from an accounting system should be accurate, fulfill management's needs and be easy to use. As well as accuracy, relevancy and simplicity an accounting system should be set up so that it does not require an inordinate amount of time to maintain. The accounting system should be easy enough to understand so that a CPA is not required to operate it or interpret its output. Many small business owners are going to Quickbooks as this is a relatively easy system to use. This software is very user friendly. Files can be transferred easily and the reports are easy to read. Quickbooks is one of many options offered. You should select the accounting package that best suits your business needs.

When searching through accounting software for small businesses, it is best to make sure that whoever is going to be running your accounting system has some knowledge of computers and accounting. Even though Quickbooks and other accounting software can be very user friendly, the person running it will still need a certain amount of accounting knowledge. It might even be beneficial for the person running the accounting system to take a class or two in basic Accounting at your local community college.

just checked their website and the program has wizards on how to set up a chart of accounts for different types of businesses as well as some basic chart of account templates for use with this

hopefully you have some understanding of double entry bookkeeping to help you understand how to use any type of accounting software – if not then you will need to go through the website help pages to learn how to do things with this program.

it has a FAQ page which might help.

    Accounting software for small business?
Which accounting software is best to use for a small business which can track inventory and also automatically create custome invoices based on orders input. Right now we track orders and create invoices in Excel and track our financials with Quicken Home & Small Business. But it would be better if we could automate some of the process and not spend as much time manually updating items.

Go with Quickbooks Pro (not simple start or standard) and don’t waste your money on Premier. Pro can do the same thing but may take a bit of extra set up. Invest the extra money in a good bookkeeper to set it up for you.

What is the best accounting software for a small business?
Everyone seems to be using QUICKBOOKS. I have heard good & bad things about it. If I do get Quickbooks, which version should I get? I own a small insurance agency.
If I go the Quickbooks route, what product is best? Quickbooks Pro, Simple Start, etc…? I would guess my accounting needs are minimal. I just need to track payroll, expenses, etc. No inventory or invoices…

I think Quickbooks will be your best bet for both function and price. I’d recommend the latest version of Quickbooks PRO. I believe they want you to update every 2-3 years, which means your cost could be spread over a longer period of time.

Overall, QB is relatively simple and user-friendly while still allowing you growth options. Also, enough people are familiar with the program that you could always hire somebody, in case your business grows quickly.

I’m planning to develope an accounting software for small businesses. I’ve no idea where and how to start.
I have strong accounting and auditing background but not computer background. How can I find a software developer to help me develope a basic accounting software in Malaysia? I’m planning to target small busineses first. I found that the current accounting softwares in Malaysia is either too comprehensive or not that suitable to small businesses. Where and how should I start?

    Thank you.

There is one of my friend who is an accountant in Malaysia (but he is from Maldives). He start to learn web programming with PHP and uses WAMP server (Windows Apache MySQL PHP). He has developed a lot of small scale program for small business in Maldives. I believe, PHP is very easy for you to learn.

But if you talk about small scale business, in my humble opinion, they might as well use Openoffice Calc program (almost like Excel but FREE), and you can do some macro programming for it, which will be much more easier and feasible, unless, if you need to allow multiple access over network.

Or you can even have the FREE accounting software – GNU Cash, that you can easily customize.
