I do the books for some builders, I charge them per quarter $ 45.00
late fees run about $ 25.00

Are you going to do payroll and everything for the small businesses? If so, I would charge $ 50 a month.

Alot of the larger accounting firms charge quite a bit more. If you are just starting out, it would be a good idea to do some calling and find out what several places charge. Are you needing someone to do your bookeeping on a monthly basis, every 3 months, once a year? I have found it is usually the smaller firms that charge smaller fees but do a more thorough job. This is something to keep in mind for the IRS. Spend an hour or so on the phone checking into things, ask a few of your fellow business owners who they recommend and make a decision based on all of the information you receive. Do not take one persons advice and do not settle for the first place you call. This is a lifesaving decision for your small business so you want to get the most trusted and reliable place in your area. Good luck!
